the marquise of rionero is assassinated by carlo asileo, nephew of the notary, after a jewelry theft. little beatrice, daughter of the marquise, falls and remains blind during the tragedy. years later the girl accepts carlo's court, which aims at his inheritance, and marries him. a young ophthalmologist, whose father was unjustly accused of killing the marquise, restores the sight of beatrice who recognizes charles as the true murderer. he tries to kill her, but the eye doctor manages to save her.
